| This $500 scholarship is awarded to a student who chooses journalism as a career, and it is funded by the WHSSPA. The WHSSPA board reserves the right to not award this scholarship if funding is not available or if applications do not meet the instructions/standards communicated on the JEA web site. The winner of this competition will be named Wyoming High School Journalist of the Year, and his/her portfolio will be sent to the JEA to compete for national high school journalist of the year |

| A $500 scholarship is currently available to graduating seniors who have participated in journalism during their high school years by participating on a yearbook, newspaper, literary magazine or broadcast staff. A scholarship will be awarded only if there are two or more applicants. It is a way of saying, “Thank You” for being involved in high school journalism programs.
The adviser of the student must approve the application, which should include a student resume, an application letter, a portfolio illustrating examples of the student work, three letters of recommendation and a transcript of the student’s grades.
